Description:

**Originally Listed At $400**

R. Moya (Mexican, first half of the 20th century). (1) "Puebla" and (2) "Chiapas," black, white, and peach charcoal drawings on beige paper, ca. first half of the 20th century. Each signed with title in lower corners. An engrossing pair of charcoal portraits depicting a man from Chiapas and a woman from Puebla, both drawn by artist "R. Moya." Titled "Puebla," the drawing of the female features the head and shoulders of a Mexican woman draped in a native blanket as she turns in three-quarters position. Layers of beaded necklaces adorn her clavicle as a chandelier earring falls beside her sharp jaw line. Alternatively, the "Chiapas" drawing portrays a bearded male in a twisted, turban-like headdress, his brow furrowed, and eyes narrowed as though in deep contemplation. A fascinating pair of Mexican portraits! Size of drawing (both the same): 8.75" W x 11" H (22.2 cm x 27.9 cm); of frame: 14" W x 16.25" H (35.6 cm x 41.3 cm)
