Description:

Egypt, Coptic culture, ca. 4th to 7th century CE. A cute bovine bone carved of a dog or cat amulet, with perked ears crouching on all fours. The head contains a blocky short snout and pinprick incised eyes while the posterior has the remains of a bobbed tail. This was probably carved and owned by an ordinary person and may have been buried with them. Size: 2" L x 0.45" W x 1" H (5.1 cm x 1.1 cm x 2.5 cm)
