Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chavin-Chongoyape, ca. 1200 BCE. A hand-built pottery stirrup vessel depicting a the portrait of a shaman bedecked in incised tattooing and colorful adornments. The ovoid eyes, thick lips, petite nose, and curved eye bands create an alluring presentation, and above the flared brim is a stirrup-shaped handle surmounted by a broad, acorn-shaped spout. Size: 4.75" L x 5.5" W x 9" H (12.1 cm x 14 cm x 22.9 cm)
