Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chavin culture, ca. 400 to 100 BCE. A hand-built pottery bottle of broad, spherical form with dozens of impressed dimples surrounding the body. The planar base keeps the vessel stable while a tall, tapered spout enabled it to be easily handled. Size: 6.3" W x 10.125" H (16 cm x 25.7 cm)

  • Condition: Repair and restoration to areas of rim, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Minor nicks and abrasions, with some earthen deposits, softening to some impressed dimples, and minor darkening to some areas, otherwise in excellent condition. Great preservation to most dimples. Previous inventory labels beneath base.
