Description:

**Originally Listed At $600**

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, ca. 1100 to 1450 CE. Beautiful Chimu blackware double whistling vessel with smooth finish and lively seated monkey holding some tender morsel of food to his mouth and his other hand to his head, perhaps scratching his cheek, on the front end. One side of the bridge between the two vessels is incised with a bold zigzag pattern. When poured this vessel was designed to whistle in order to prevent anyone from swiping the precious liquid within. A lovely example replete with an elegant form, intriguing iconography, and musical appeal! Size: 7.75" L x 7.125" H (19.7 cm x 18.1 cm)
