Description:

**Previously Listed At $200**

Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chimu, ca. 1100 to 1470 CE. A double-lobed, mold-made pottery vessel with one lobe a simple canteen shape with a narrow spout and the other in the form of a transformative half-human and half-animal figure - probably a shaman. A strap handle runs from the back of the figure's head to mid-spout. The clay has fired marks on it but is generally an earthy redware. A vessel like this one may have been used ceremonially for holding chicha (maize beer) and for pouring libations onto the earth or storing them in the grave. Size: 7.6" L x 5" W x 6.5" H (19.3 cm x 12.7 cm x 16.5 cm)
