Description:

China, Eastern Zhou, 770 to 256 BCE. This is a bronze spearhead with a pleasing triangular shape and two squared-off loops on the body of the socket. This spearhead was made during a time of great flux in Chinese society, when the old order was collapsing and kingdoms and warlords traded land constantly, and finely made weapons such as this one were a sign of great prestige. This was most likely found as a grave good alongside the body of a nobleman. Size: 7.5" L x 1.55" W (19 cm x 3.9 cm).

Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.
