Description:

East Asia, China, Eastern Zhou Dynasty, ca. 771 to 256 BCE. A carved nephrite jade disc perforated through the center with 4 rodents along the outer edge, their open work tails perhaps forming additional suspension holes. These are likely mice or rats, the first animal of the Chinese zodiac cycle, symbolizing new beginnings and opportunities. The natural intelligence and adaptability of rats make them an auspicious sign and talisman. Size: 1.86" L x 1.86" W (4.7 cm x 4.7 cm)
