Description:

East Asia, China, Eastern Zhou Dynasty to Warring States period, ca. 771 to 221 BCE. A nephrite jade ornament, possibly a pendant or belt buckle, carved in the form of a double ring. The surface is meticulously grooved with evenly spaced spiraling ridges, possibly mimicking the texture of rope fibers. The jade is semi-translucent and glows when backlit. In Chinese symbolism, the circle represented cyclical time and harmony, reflecting the continuous flow of energy and time without a defined beginning or end. Jade discs, in particular, were often used in burial rites to connect the mortal realm with the heavens. Size: 2.99" L x 1.75" W (7.6 cm x 4.4 cm)
