East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. An iron spear head with a tubular tang, a leaded-brass guard, and a flat blade with a rounded shoulder and pointed tip. When mounted on a pole the weight and length of this spear head would require a soldier of great strength to wield it. Spears, such as this fine piece, were used primarily by the Ming Dynasty army for conquests or putting down rebellions. Size: 16.312" L x 1.56" W (41.4 cm x 4 cm)
