Description:

East Asia, Northeastern China, Neolithic period, Hongshan culture, ca. 4700 to 2900 BCE. A hand-carved nephrite jade amulet shaped in the form of an abstract zoomorphic figure, often referred to as a "pig dragon," featuring a limbless, coiled body. In addition to the prominent central hole, a smaller suspension hole is carefully bored through the outer edge, likely for wear as a talisman to ward off evil.
