East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th to mid-20th century CE. A varied group of smoking pipe bowls and fittings assembled in an array of materials including pottery, ivory, jade, and stone. The pottery examples include a large terracotta bowl with stamped decorative motifs, a blue-and-white bowl with painted decoration, a small glazed blue bowl, and an octagonal ceramic bowl. The group is complemented by a dark brown cylindrical element of elephant ivory, showing a deepened patina from use with faint Schreger lines visible at the rim, alongside a flared jadeite cap, a quartzite fist bowl, and a stone bowl fitted with a brass neck collar.
