East Asia, China, Warring States Period, ca. 475 to 221 BCE. A minimalist example of a forged-bronze spear tip with an elongated, petaloid blade bearing a thick midrib and a pointed tip. The exterior of the ovoid socketing shaft is finely adorned with etched floral motifs inlaid with modern brass, and the interior cavity still retains a section of its original wooden pole. An ornate and deadly weapon from ancient China! Size: 18.3" L x 1.25" W (46.5 cm x 3.2 cm)

  • Condition: Blade and handle are ancient, and brass inlays on handle are modern. Very slight bending to blade profile, with softening to some etched details on socketing shaft, otherwise intact and very good. Great patina throughout. Remnant of old wooden pole present within socketing shaft.
