Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built polychrome vessel presenting an attractive form comprised of an elegant round-bottomed body with incurved shoulders leading to a raised lip, all supported upon three integral openwork pointed legs. The upper half of the highly-burnished vessel is covered with deep red slip, and adorning the shoulder are three black diamond-shaped netted motifs with triangles emerging from each corner. These alternate with a trio of diamond motifs comprised of numerous bas-relief circular elements. The lower section of the vessel (including the legs) and the interior are a beautiful burnished terracotta. Size: 9.25" W x 5.125" H (23.5 cm x 13 cm)
