Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. In incredible condition, this is a fantastical figure, made from individual components of applied, fired clay - a warrior figure wearing a huge item on his or her back that resembles a giant butterfly with round wings and a spiral coil for a head. The figure has a horned headdress, a common Colima item, and wears a huge nose pendant, a pectoral of similar form, and a loincloth with a thick belt. The figure holds a large staff that is rounded at one end and flattens into a rectangular form at the other. The figure is posed dynamically, hefting the club above one shoulder. Comes with custom stand. Size: 4.25" L x 3.4" W x 5.5" H (10.8 cm x 8.6 cm x 14 cm); height on stand: 6" (15.2 cm)
