Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built pottery figure of a characteristically 'flat' form standing upon lengthy delineated legs and minimized feet. The figure wears a loin cloth with an applied tasseled belt, has sinuous arms held aloft behind the neck in an unusual position. The characteristically elongated head boasts coffee-bean-shaped eyes, a pronounced nose, pursed lips, ear ornaments, and a cap with a cross-hatched incised pattern. A special example with an intriguing pose. Size: 1.25" L x 4" W x 7.375" H (3.2 cm x 10.2 cm x 18.7 cm); 7.75" H (19.7 cm) on included custom stand.
