Description:

Early Cretaceous seas, found in China, ca. 123 to 122 million years old. A beautifully preserved, articulated fossil of a Hyphalosaurus, in its original matrix, with its long neck and tail stretched out to either side of its small body and its limbs curved down at its sides. This extinct freshwater reptile was part of the Jehol Biota, the ecosystem of northeastern China ca. 133 to 120 million years ago. Fossils from this location are exceptionally well preserved, as shown here. Hyphalosaurus lived in freshwater lakes and had a flattenedd tail for swimming, with a heavy chest made of solid rib bones to keep it submerged. Comes in wood and glass frame. Size: 21.55" W x 10.2" H (54.7 cm x 25.9 cm); size of frame: 25.25" W x 18.25" H (64.1 cm x 46.4 cm)
