Description:

Contemporary American, 20th to 21st century CE. A collection of whimsical glass sculptures with organic, rippled bowls and separate conical and domed or spheroid hollow forms. The pieces have a botanical structure - flower petals and protruding stamen, or perhaps sea-forms like coral and urchins. Unsigned, and likely free blown then hot-worked. Size of larger bowl: 9.75" L x 6" W x 4.75" H (24.8 cm x 15.2 cm x 12.1 cm)

There is a resemblance and clear influence of the celebrated glass artist, Dale Chihuly. The name Chihuly is world renowned for his use of blown glass as a vehicle for sculpture, focusing on the vessel in his explorations of color explosions and form. Setting aside complex techniques in favor of letting the hot glass naturally find its own shape, he has produced work that is characterized by its large, gravity-influenced forms and minimal tooling as much as by its striking palette of colors.
