Ancient Greece, Corinth, ca. 6th century BCE. A wheel-thrown trinket container called a pyxis of squat, bell-shaped form with a planar base and a thick rim intended to hold a lid. The beige-hued exterior is decorated with incised striations and pops of dark brown and red pigment to create a trio of lions amongst a field of stippling. Size: 2.9" Diameter x 1.1" H (7.4 cm x 2.8 cm)
