Description:

Greece, Corinth, ca. 7th to 6th century BCE. A pretty jar with twin looped handles rising upward from the shoulders. A thin, short, wide-mouthed spout rises from the center of the shoulders. The vessel stands on a round disc foot with a slightly flared base. Around the body is a wide, painted register depicting zebu bulls and large-horned ibexes or similar ungulates. During this time, Corinthian plates showed the influence of eastern trade connections with the city - creating art with stylized plants and animal friezes, inspired by trade with the Levant, Egypt, and Assyria. This is known as the "Orientalizing Period." Size: 4.75" W x 4.5" H (12.1 cm x 11.4 cm)
