Description:

Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Guanacaste-Nicoya, Period V-VI, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A polychrome whistle in the form of a parrot, standing upon long legs with a broad tail and wings emerging from the sides, and an endearing visage with boldly delineated eyes and a pointed beak. There are multiple finger holes: two on the beak, two through the mouth, two below the eyes, and two flanking the chest. The surface is meticulously decorated with geometric motifs in red and black on a creamy beige ground. Size: 3.375" L x 3.675" H (8.6 cm x 9.3 cm)
