Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Guanacaste/Nicoya region, ca. 500 to 1200 CE. A beautiful celt, hand-carved and string-cut from a mottled green stone with light and dark inclusions, in the form of a stylized anthropomorphic figure. The head boasts perky ears, drilled eyes, bent arms with gaps between the body, and delineated fingertips and nipples, all formed via a meticulous drilling and string-cutting process. Noteworthy to this figure is how it stands upon a zoomorphic creature, head pointed to the right, short tail to the left. The celt is polished to a lustrous sheen, and a pair of drilled holes on the neck allow it to be worn as a pendant. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 1.875" W x 4.875" H (4.8 cm x 12.4 cm); 7.125" H (18.1 cm) on included custom stand.
