Lot 154A
Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Atlantic Watershed region, ca. 1000 to 1400 CE. A fabulous carved volcanic stone figure of a warrior holding a weapon in his left hand and a trophy head in his right. He stands nude with a very stern expression and boldly delineated facial features. Despite the rigid stance of this gent, the figure suggests dynamic motion conjuring images of the gruesome activity preceding the moment captured by the sculptor. A nice and near choice example! Size: 6.5" W x 10.5" H (16.5 cm x 26.7 cm)
