Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Central Highlands, Atlantic Watershed, ca. 1000 to 1400 CE. Carved from a porous grey volcanic stone, a figure crouching in a seated position with folded arms upon upraised knees, legs parted so as to reveal his genitalia, feet firmly on the ground, his back curved with spine delineated. His head is detailed with bold facial features - coffee bean shaped eyes, pronounced nose, and full lips - carved in low relief and projecting ears. An intriguing personage - perhaps an ancient Costa Rican 'thinker' engaged in deep contemplation. Size: 2.625" W x 3.625" H (6.7 cm x 9.2 cm)
