Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Atlantic Watershed region, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A tall male figure, hand-carved from grey volcanic stone, standing atop delineated legs. Braided reed strands comprise the ankle and wrist bands as well as the tasseled scarf, and he wears a thin bark cloth wrapping around his groin. His globular head exhibits a bewildered countenance replete with carved ovoid eyes, a bulbous nose, pursed lips, and tall ears, all beneath a coarse pate accentuated with an incised circle. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 5.875" W x 10.1" H (14.9 cm x 25.7 cm); 10.875" H (27.6 cm) on included custom stand.
