Description:

Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Atlantic Watershed region, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A fine female figure carved from porous volcanic stone. The figure stands atop delineated legs, holds cupped hands beneath her breasts, and has broad shoulders that taper inward to a thick neck. The abstract visage boasts coffee-bean-shaped eyes, a wide nose, thin lips, gaunt cheeks, and tab-shaped ears, all beneath a backswept coiffure that hangs below the shoulders. Size: 4.625" W x 7.125" H (11.7 cm x 18.1 cm).
