Ancient Mediterranean, Cypriot, Late Bronze Age, ca. 1600 to 1050 BCE. A fine basalt plate presenting an annular form with a hefty base that tapers to a raised rim over a shallow basin. The surface of the basin has been worn smooth indicating this may have served as a mortar for food, dyes, fragrances, or oils. Size: 11.6" Diameter x 3.4" H (29.5 cm x 8.6 cm)

Provenance: private Vero Beach, Florida, USA collection, acquired before 2003
