Description:

Ancient Mediterranean, Cyprus, ca. 7th to 6th centuries BCE. This is a low, round-bodied pedestal plate with a bullseye design in its center and very small handles with pinhole loops attached to the rim. The foot is pronounced and the bowl is also decorated on its exterior, all with the same banded designs. At this time, Cyprus was become part of a pan-Mediterranean culture that included Archaic-period Greek and Phoenician influence, and bowls like these were part of a larger trade network and artistic and commercial conversation. Size: 7.3" W x 2.9" H (18.5 cm x 7.4 cm)
