Description:

Ancient Greece, Cyprus, Cypro-Geometric II to III, ca. 900 to 750 BCE. An elegant pottery hydria boasting a Classical form and adorned with black-painted target motifs characteristic of ancient Cypriot ceramics. Sitting upon a narrow base, the graceful vessel swells to a bulbous body with a rounded shoulder, a cylindrical neck, and a flared spout. Twin horizontal handles flank the body, while a vertical, ribbon-form handle connects neck to shoulder. Black-painted concentric banding and bulls eye motifs embellish the bare terracotta of the exterior. Size: 7.6" Diameter x 9.7" H (19.3 cm x 24.6 cm)
