George Christians (American, 1923-1997). Twelve vintage gelatin silver prints by George Christians, a professor of sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Professor Christians took up photography in both black and white and color, covering a wide range of subjects. He was especially committed to the health of the planet, and is best known for his documentary series about the oil industry. This collection of 12 vintage silver gelatin prints includes nudes, landscapes, a mesmerizing closeup of rippling water rings, intriguing portraits, street scenes, and a striking gathering of hand woven baskets. All were acquired directly from the George Christians estate. Size (largest): 13.625" L x 10.75" W (34.6 cm x 27.3 cm)
