Description:

**Originally Listed At $600**

Native American, Southwestern United States, Apache people, ca. early 20th century CE. An impressive woven basketry vessel presenting a concave, circular base, a bulbous body, a slanted shoulder, and a corseted neck that leads to a broad, flared rim. A pair of slender, strap handles flanks the wide shoulders of this fascinating vessel, allowing it to be more easily transported. Water baskets like this example were covered in thick, sticky pitch to seal the innumerable gaps between the woven strands and thereby mitigate and altogether halt any leakage of the liquid contained within. Size: 13" in diameter x 16.375" H (33 cm x 41.6 cm)
