Description:

Oceania, Indonesia, Borneo, Central Kalimantan, Dayak peoples, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden rod known as a "tun tun" with a slender body, a tiered pommel, and a finial depicting a highly stylized male figure, shown seated with a small animal crawling on his shoulders. The tun tun is used to set the height of trip wires when luring small game, and the figural charm on top was meant to bring about a successful hunt. Size: 1" W x 22.3" H (2.5 cm x 56.6 cm); 23.7" H (60.2 cm) on included custom stand.
