Description:

Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, Haida peoples, ca. early 20th century CE. A beautiful totem pole carved from hard wood and painted with brown, orange, and blue-green pigment. The totem pole depicts an abstract zoomorphic motif consisting of (from top to bottom) an eagle with folded wings, a large head of a bear, a marine mammal akin to an otter or seal pup, and a fully-formed squatting bear. The vivid areas of applied pigment fabulously complement the naturally dark hue of the wood and imbue this sculpture with an elegant stylization characteristic of the Haida! Size: 1.5" W x 18" H (3.8 cm x 45.7 cm); 18.75" H (47.6 cm) on included custom stand.
