South Pacific, Hawaii, ca. early 20th century CE. An excellent carved monkeypod wood bowl with a flat circular base, bulbous body, and curved walls that narrow to an annular rim. Carved from a tree native to tropical areas, the monkey wood presents with gorgeous natural stripes in hues of golden caramel, deep chocolate, and coffee. A lovely example from Hawaiian culture! Size: 4.75" W x 2.75" H (12.1 cm x 7 cm)
