Native American, Southwestern USA, Arizona or New Mexico, Hopi Peoples, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A pretty pottery jar boasting black-painted decoration on a pale orange ground of an upside-down crested wave motif beneath 2 horizontal bands. The squat vessel presents a planar base and curved walls that rise to a broad shoulder and an inward-curving rim. Each spiraling wave is additionally embellished with a pair of lines extending from the exterior of its curve. Size: 7.6" W x 3.3" H (19.3 cm x 8.4 cm)
