**Originally Listed At $500**

Tribal, Papua New Guinea, early 20th century CE. A huge - almost life-sized - wood statue of an ancestor figure, brightly painted, standing naked with his hands at his sides and a large, well-depicted penis. He wears a hat topped with two small horns and his face is painted red, blue, and yellow, perhaps in imitation of real face painting practiced in this region. A necklace and patterns on the legs and arms have also been painted on in a grey-white color. Size of statue: 9.4" W x 54.75" H (23.9 cm x 139.1 cm); size on stand: 14" L x 18" W x 56" H (35.6 cm x 45.7 cm x 142.2 cm).
