North America, Southwestern Native American tribe, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A nice example of a wood framed drum with stretched, scraped hide on top and bottom, sewn in place using leather cord. This covers a layer of deer hide that wraps around the body. Drums play an important ceremonial role in the spiritual life of the native people of the southwest. Size: 17.5" W x 14" H (44.4 cm x 35.6 cm)
