West Africa Coast, Ivory Coast / Ghana, Lagoon region, Baule or Akan culture, ca. 19th to early-20th century CE. A fine miniature maskette / large pendant made from 79% silver with gold gilt and cast into an abstract face using the lost wax method. While somewhat anthropomorphic, the crescent shaped horns to the sides symbolize a ram head, and similar pendants were originally used for chiefly / aristocratic dress regalia to symbolize strength and virility.
