Europe / United States / South American, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A collection of 4 antique picture frames made from silver ranging from high quality 80% to 96% sterling. The small oval, openwork frame is decorated with cornucopias, and has an easel back support arm for tabletop and a ring for suspension. The over circular frame is a flower bud wreath with a ribbon, also easel back, stamped "PAMITH," "PLATA FINA" and 900 purity mark- likely from Chile. The smaller rectangular frame is wood with an easel back and overlaid with sterling silver panels. The largest frame is an easel back with a sterling silver repousse panel laid over the wood backing. Decorated with peonies, daffodils, and chrysanthemums - this is the prettiest frame, despite some losses to lower corners! All frames have glass inserts and can be used as intended. Size of largest frame exterior: 9.25" L x 7.125" W (23.5 cm x 18.1 cm); interior glass: 5.25" L x 3.8" W (13.3 cm x 9.7 cm); silver quality: 80% to 96%

  • Condition: Chips and losses to the largest frame to the lower silver panel corners. Wear and to backing on the second larger frame, backing needs additional support to keep glass in place. Patina and dark toning to all, but overall good condition. Glass inserts are intact.
