Ancient Egypt, Early Dynastic to Old Kingdom Period, ca. 3rd millennium BCE. An attractive jar of a squat form, hand-carved from creamy yellow-white alabaster with fine banding that illuminates when placed next to a light. The vessel has a petite base, an apple-shaped body, and a petite rim surrounding a wide mouth and deep basin. Size: 3.4" W x 3.6" H (8.6 cm x 9.1 cm).
