Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19th to 20th century CE. A delightful brass shrine figure of Shadakshari Lokeshvara is a 4-armed variant of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, who holds his inner hands to his chest in anjalimudra, the gesture of adoration. Seated in lotus position atop a double lotus throne, the deity wears a luxurious crown with outer hands holding attributes. Note the inserted brass base indicating the figure has been filled with sacred objects and sealed for worship. A lovely example! Size: 3" L x 3.75" W x 5.25" H (7.6 cm x 9.5 cm x 13.3 cm)
