Roman, Eastern Empire, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A cast-bronze prick spur with a petite discoid fastener on each side bar. The front of the spur features a lengthy conical spike - or prick - that would be poked into the side of a horse to increase their speed or provide other instruction. Size: 1.75" L x 2.3" W x 1.1" H (4.4 cm x 5.8 cm x 2.8 cm)

Provenance: private Denver, Colorado, USA collection, acquired in the 1960's
