Description:

Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, Amarna Period, ca. 1300 BCE. From the height of artistic achievement, this incredible amulet was made of a deep blue faience, possibly trying to replicate lapis amulets of the period. In the form of what is known as a "block" figure - most commonly associated with memorializing the dead. He sits knees folded to his chest, head slightly forward, suspension loop on reverse. I have seen several examples of this type in all forms of stone but this is the only example I have ever encountered in a faience amulet! Size: .375" W x 1.25" H (1 cm x 3.2 cm)
