Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, ca. 1543 to 1292 BCE. A gorgeous necklace of multi-colored round and disc-shaped faience, glass, and stone beads (including carnelian, agate, jet, and steatite) arranged around a central carved steatite face pendant, the visage probably representing a child given its cherubic countenance, delineated with eyes comprised of concentric circles, an upturned nose, small mouth, and chin. Modern stringing and clasp. Size: 16.5" L (41.9 cm); face pendant measures .875" L x .875" W (2.2 cm x 2.2 cm)
