Ancient Egypt, Late Period, 26th (Saite) Dynasty to 30th Dynasty, ca. 664 to 343 BCE. A pretty blue paste glass scarab with a blank base. The color and style mimic the rare stone, lapis lazuli. Pierced laterally to be worn as a protective amulet. Size: 1.6" W (4.1 cm)

Provenance: ex Hank Johnson collection, Denver, Colorado, USA; ex HD-Enterprise, Denver, Colorado, USA, acquired from the estate of Philip Mitry, Cairo, Egypt, collected in the 1950s
