Egypt, Late to Ptolemaic Period, 712-30 BCE. Bronze figurine of Nefertum, the Egyptian god of perfumes and unguents. Nefertum wears the lotus blossom crown topped by two large plumes and with to menyet counterpoises on the sides. The crown is placed over a tripartite wig with an uraeus at the brow. The figure wears his customary shendty kilt and a braided beard. Carefully modeled in the round with a suspension loop behind the crown. Nefertum was regarded as the son of Sekhmet and Ptah. Together, this triad formed the divine family of the Memphite area. 3.5"H. Provenance: ex-Schuler Auktionen Zurich (Switzerland), June 2011. Registered with the Art Loss database.
