Description:

Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate to Late Dynastic Period, 25th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 744 to 332 BCE. A beautiful figure of Osiris, the Egyptian god of the afterlife, cast from bronze and exhibiting mottled green and russet patina across his regal corpus. Osiris stands with fused legs atop a protruding tenon while holding a striated heka scepter and flagellum in hands placed tightly atop his abdomen. His serene countenance presents with a narrow nose above full lips, ovoid eyes with elongated canthi, perky ears, and a plaited false beard, and surmounting his head is an Atef crown with a pair of lateral ostrich feathers and a frontal uraeus cobra. Size: 1.375" W x 5.125" H (3.5 cm x 13 cm)

  • Condition: Chips to ostrich feathers and apex of crown as shown. Minute nicks to peripheries of base and high-pointed areas. Casting flaw to lower legs. Tang is missing. Surface is graced by earthen deposits, and gorgeous green patina has developed over the ages.
