Description:

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, ca. 712 to 332 BCE. A cast bronze amulet showing the god of the Underworld, Osiris, on a narrow post. He is depicted in his standing form, mummified, with his hands emerging from his wrappings to hold his scepter, shepherd's crook, and flail, representative of kingship, showing his close connection with the pharaoh and his role as Ruler of the Dead. His beard is done in the style of a chin strap and he wears a crown, further signs of his kingship. This figure is in the same form as many of varying sizes, from pendants to monumental statues, and with the post at its feet, was probably made for insertion into a holder during a ritual or in a grave. Comes with custom stand. Size: 1.5" W x 4.85" H (3.8 cm x 12.3 cm); height on stand: 5.75" (14.6 cm)
