Ancient Art. Egypt, Late to Ptolemaic Period, ca. 712 to 30 BCE. A bronze figurine of Sekhmet, the Egyptian god of hunters and warriors. Sekhmet is shown wearing an Atef crown while in a striding pose upon an integrated plinth, arms and hands hanging vertically at her side, with an anthropomorphic body featuring the head of a lioness. She was prayed to as a protector of pharaohs and led them into battle. Size: 0.75" L x 0.6" W x 2.625" H (1.9 cm x 1.5 cm x 6.7 cm).

Provenance: ex-private Florida, USA collection, acquired before 1990
