Ancient Egypt, Eighteenth Dynasty, ca. 1425 BCE. This is a large carved dark steatite (soapstone) with the cartouche of Thutmosis III (also Thutmose, Thothmes) on the base. Thutmosis III followed the rule of Queen Hatshepsut, his aunt and stepmother, and his great military feats from Syria to Nubia have earned him the modern title "The Napoleon of Ancient Egypt". Size: 1" L x 0.8" W (2.5 cm x 2 cm)
